Jay was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. If you knew him, you knew he didn’t rush through conversations. He would pull up a chair, settle in, and talk with you for as long as it took, usually longer than you expected, but exactly as long as you needed. He also had a deep love for baseball and was a loyal fan of the Chicago White Sox, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Ruthanne (née Hesley); his sons, David (wife Michelle and son Jonathan) and Scott (wife Erin and daughters Morgan and Katie). He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lisa.
Jay will be remembered not just for the stories he told but for the way he made people feel like they mattered, were heard, and were part of something.
Services will be held privately.
